:It can not just be on people, of colour to deal with racism': Michelle Obama.

The former first lady of the United States, Michelle Obama came forth with a powerful message highlighting the importance of self-examination in order to completely root out racism.   Obama,s statement comes in the midst of protests against racial violence and police brutality that emerged across America in the aftermath of George Floyd,s tragic death.   The 56-year-old penned a note on Instagram, saying she felt ‘pained’ and ‘exhausted’.   :Like so many of you, I’m pained by these recent tragedies. And I’m exhausted by a heartbreak that never seems to stop.   :Right now it’s George, Breonna, and Ahmaud. Before that, it was Eric, Sandra, and Michael. It just goes on, and on, and on. Race and racism is a reality that so many of us grow up learning to just deal with. But if we ever hope to move past it, it can’t just be on people of color to deal with it, she said. “It’s up to all of us-Black, white, everyone-no matter how well-meaning we thi...

Hong Kong govt

Hong Kong,s government warned Washington that withdrawing its special US status, which  has underpinned the city as a global financial hub , could be a "double-edged sword" and urged the United States to stop  interfering internal affairs. The  statement came as US president Donald Trump is due to announce later on Friday his response to the  Chinese parliament,s advancement of national security legislation for Hong Kong, which democracy activists and western countries fear could erode the city,s freedoms. The former  British colony enjoys a high degree of autonomy under a "One country, two systems" formula since it returned to Chinese rule in 1997. "Any sanctions are a double -edged sword that will not only harm the interests of Hong Kong but also significantly those of the US,"the city,s government said late on Thursday. Photo: Reuters The Chinese parliament on Thursday approved a decision to impose a security law on Hong Kong which may say will eradicate the city's special autonomy. China says the legislation will be aimed at tackling secession, subversion, terrorism and foreign interference in the city but the plan, unveiled in Beijing last week, triggered the first big protests in Hong Kong for months. Riot police were out in force in Hong Kong as its legislators debated another piece of legislation, a bill that would criminalise disrespect of China’s national anthem, while the United States piled on pressure aimed at preserving the city’s autonomy. Dozens of protesters gathered in a shopping mall to chant slogans but there was no repeat o...
